Conference Venue

AzAA's Annual "Walter Burg" Fall Conference will take place on Thursday, October 28 at the Desert Willow Conference Center. All attendees are invited to attend the Welcome Reception the evening before on Wednesday, October 27 at the Desert Willow Conference Center. Guest tickets for the Welcome Reception are available for $30 each.

Registration Details

The conference starts on Wednesday, October 27 with the Welcome Reception from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and continues with conference sessions from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 28.

AzAA Golf Outing

Join your AzAA peers for a round of golf on Friday, October 29 at Ocotillo Golf Club. Consecutive tee times will be starting at 8:01 AM through 8:41 AM. Please note that carts will be allowed on the Golf Course, but the Blue Course will be cart path only.

The fee to golf is $75 and can be added during the registration process. If you have already registered and wish to add golf to your registration, please contact Taylor Swajanen at admin@azairports.org

PLEASE NOTE: A $25 fee will apply for all attendees who register late/onsite at the conference. Please register before Monday, October 25 to avoid additional fees. 

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made prior to two (2) weeks of the conference are eligible to receive an 80% refund on all fees paid. Cancellations made between 14 and two (2) days of the conference are eligible to receive a 50% refund on all fees paid. There will not be any refunds granted for cancellations made two (2) days or less prior to the conference. All cancellations are subject to a $50 fee which will be deducted from the refund. Cancellation notifications should be sent to admin@azairports.org

Door Prizes

We need your help! We are looking for some really exciting door prizes to raffle at the conference. This is your opportunity to promote your company throughout the conference as raffle prizes are drawn in between sessions.

Welcome Reception Tickets are Available!

Tickets are available to purchase for $30 each for the Welcome Reception on Wednesday, October 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Desert Willow Conference Center. To register a guest for the Welcome Reception, please enter your guest's information on your registration form and purchase an additional ticket or contact AzAA Headquarters at 480-403-4618.

Walter "Wally" Burg

Wally started his 36-year career with the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA) as a firefighter in 1966 while still in college. A graduate of the New Mexico Military Institute and the University of Arizona, he also served in the Arizona National Guard. After graduation from the University of Arizona with a degree in Business Administration, Wally joined the TAA's planning department, eventually working his way up to President and CEO in 1979. He served 23 years at the Airport Authority's helm and became one of the industry's most highly regarded professionals nationally and internationally. The expansion to Tucson International Airport (TIA), which Wally initiated and directed, is his legacy to the community. So great was the affection for him at TIA that many of the airport's 300 employees referred to him as "Uncle Wally."

He was a member of the Airports Council International's board, serving as its chairman in 1991-1992. Other professional service included the International ACI Board, Arizona Airports Association and the Arizona State Aviation Task Force. In 2008 he received the prestigious ACI-NA William E. Downs Jr. Award for his outstanding leadership in promoting the cause of airports and aviation. 

Wally served with many community organizations as well, including Carondelet Health Network, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, where he was a Chairman in 1999. The Walter A. Burg Scholarship is a memorial scholarship awarded annually to dependents of TAA employees who have been admitted to the University of Arizona as full-time students.
